However, I felt I had to re-visit the journal because it plays a huge role in the film and I discovered different things about it after doing the initial piece.

Kim, Solas and Rum, thank you all for the feedback; it is always appreciated.
Anonymous/Kim, I hope people are helped in their grief by the film and I know grieving people see things in it others generally don’t. I'm glad you and I connected!

Solas, I love those sayings you share. Having a bit of the soul of someone who has died in the form of their journal is a gift that person has left for us; even if they embellish or play to the unknown audience, we glimpse into their world. And I, too, have thought of Anne Frank, but had not brought her up in a piece because I imagined people would be offended by setting her, a real person, beside Tyler, the imagined one. She brings the face of tragedy to that horror just as Tyler did for his though, and that lesson is important. It shows Will’s rightness in presenting the story that way. But Tyler’s journal, unlike Anne’s, is, as you say, also a way for him to connect to his brother.

Rum, you’ve been really busy with RL I know. Thank you for taking the time to re-connect with the journal here. You were first to post the initial article on your site and so much has gone on since then. Your words mean a lot to me.

And Kat, thanks for the place for me to put my thoughts about Remember Me! In writing, a journaler forges the connection, like planting an umbilical cord to another life, or perhaps like having the call go through on a telephone. Journalers put a bit of their soul into what they write, and that bit of soul stays within the pages, and talks to the readers, even when the writer is no longer amongst the living, at least on the same plane. When I saw that journal among the ashes at the end of Remember Me, I immediately thought of Anne Frank, but also of thousands of Tylers that day whose words I hope are left to reach and touch those of us still in the physical plane, and also of millions over time whose thoughts, feelings, observations, would otherwise be lost to us. There is a teaching among my people (I know, I am always giving you these teachings, but i am not a missionary; the teachings are in my heart and mind and soul and what I read and experience are stimuli that draw up the teachings): Whoever destroys a life destroys a world; whoever saves a life saves a world. At least, if we have a journal or diary of a lost life, we have a bit of that soul and life in our world still.

Oh jessiegirl....so very good. We really are affected by other people in our lives or those we let affect us, good or bad.
